Tobyn's First Haircut!

Tobyn is 22 months and I finally got him his first haircut. It was not something that I was excited to go do. That's probably why it took me so long to do it. It just seems like every little baby boy who gets their first haircut, comes looking back like a big boy. And well, I'm just not ready for Tobyn to not be my baby! Oh well, life does happen and thus we got his hair cut! Here are the before and after pics!

The front view

the back view the side view
He was not very happy at the idea of sitting in the chair by himself, so we compromised and he sat on me. He was very somber the whole time, but he did a very good job at sitting still.

The after pictures. He really wasn't to sure about the end product!

Here he is after we got home and after he had his sucker! Daniel wasn't quite impressed with his haircut as I was. He thought a little more would come off, even though I had them take off an inch and a half! (Actually Daniel still thinks he needs another haircut!) Oh well, I like it! He still looks like a baby and he still has his curls! A mom can only do so much at one time!

Tobyn's Finally Steppin OUT!

He's fourteen months today, and is just getting his courage up to walk. He's not completely there yet, but he's made a lot more progress the last couple of days. He still is probably crawling more than he's walking, but he is attempting a lot more to walk! He is definitely my late bloomer, yet he climbs on more things already than the girls to this day. I guess that's a boy for you, at least that's what people tell me!

Tobyn's favorite obstacle course is weaving in and out of these chairs.

Here he comes!

My Big Helper!

Tobyn loves to get into my cabinets. He especially loves the drawer where the dish towels and bibs are. This particular day, we found him cleaning with the one of the dish towels. He was rubbing his little heart away and oh so proud of himself! I actually got a really cute little video of it and then when I went to watch it, I realized I filmed it crooked! So, here is a still frame instead:(

"Now what else can I get into?"

Some More of Tobyn

Here is a few glimpses of Tobyn. He is getting so fun. I have really been enjoying him the last month or two. From one to two years of age seems to be my favorite stage. They are little sponges and are learning something new everyday. His personality is coming out more and more everyday as well. Yet, he is still so sweet and still loves his mama! He hasn't developed the attitude quite yet, although I can see glimpses of it emerging! He is not walking yet. He's getting there, but he doesn't seem to have the patience to wait to get his balance, instead he wants to just take off. He does seem to love to climb and get into anything he can, and he is getting faster everyday! Things he has learned: the toilet paper roll in the bathroom is a lot of fun to unroll when no one is looking, the handle on the toilet makes the water go down the little hole, doors are fun to open and close, the wipes container has a button on it to push and you can pull all the wipes out, the silverware in the dish washer are fun to pull out and throw on the ground, maybe occasionally their fun to put back in, and the VCR/DVD player has cool buttons to push and slots to put things in! Words he can say: Mama, dog, ball, more, no, and night-night.

"Did you say the stove was a no? I can't remember this one."
"I am such big stuff Mom!"

"The dishwasher is my favorite place to climb!"

"I'm hungry mom, what can I have?"

Tobyn's 1st Birthday!

Has a year really gone by since we met Tobyn for the first time!? I know I sound like a broken record, but it really is amazing at how fast the time has gone. And yet at the same time, it's hard for me to remember life with out him. I guess you could say he enjoyed his birthday, but I seriously doubt he really new what was going on! All he really new was that he got a lot of attention and he got some good sugar!

Here's Tobyn first thing in the morning. He's really not very excited about his presents, but he is all into the balloons that were on the floor!

Ribbon is a very cool present!

I had fun with Tobyn's birthday theme, Mickey Mouse! Daniel was thinking the Transformers. I figure that day will come, but I can choose now!

MMM... Cake....!!

The two birthday boys! Exactly one year apart. Nathan, so graciously, got to have his party the night before, so that Tobyn could have his first birthday party on the real date. I never would have guessed that the two of them would share a birthday! But hey, I guess God's timing is perfect!

Here is a video of us singing Happy Birthday to Tobyn with his cake. You will have to excuse the camera man, he wasn't thinking clearly. Also, please know the high chair has been fixed and Tobyn is once again safe in his chair!

Tobyn

Tobyn's first birthday is rapidly approaching! I think I have about two more weeks until the day. It's quite amazing how time flies! He is still quite the sweet heart. His little personality is emerging more and more everyday. He likes to test things. If mommy or daddy tell him no, he looks at us and attempts again, just to make sure that we really mean it. He loves to give kisses. His favorite time to give mommy kisses is when I'm not paying attention to him. He knows that if he kisses me, I'll stop and give him some attention. Taylin is his rescuer. When mommy is to busy to deal with him, Taylin will always gladly replace me. He is learning that she understands him well, and she's funny, too. Rayna and Tobyn have a love hate relationship. Rayna can be the funniest sister, but she is always too lovey! Tobyn often wants his space! He has gotten four teeth and is working on his fifth one right now. He is still crawling and got along way to go before he gets steady on those feet. He has got to get rid of his tippy toes!

Sissies toys are the best!

Every child of mine, has at one time or another, gotten into the diapers. I'm not sure what it is that is so exciting about them. It's a real kick!

I'm a big boy, pulling myself up on stuff.

Mom says this is a no, but really, what is she going to do?

This was one of those moments where Tobyn had to deal. Taylin came to his rescue, and this was to cute to just pass up.

I'm all over the house these days!

There's a First for Everything!

It happened. It finally really happened. I had a child who was guilty of breaking something in the store! I don't remember it happening with Taylin or with Rayna, but Tobyn appears to be the lucky culprit! (Is this to warn me of what's to come!) So, yesterday while I was in Michael's, I had Tobyn on my hip facing out. I was looking at one side of the isle and he was looking at the other side. Without even realizing what he was doing, he grabbed a hold of a glass votive candle holder and let it go! There was no hiding it. There was a nice big crash that was heard through out the whole store! Fortunately, we didn't have to pay for it. Tobyn had already been flirting with the sales lady and she liked him! Quite embarrassing though!

Tobyn at 9 Months

I know that I am redundant, but it really does make me sad that I have to put up these posts of Tobyn getting older! He is so fun and snugly right now, and it is just going by way to fast! I really am trying my hardest to cherish every moment and just love on him as much as possible. Yet, it seems a little fruitless, because it's still is going by so fast! Although, I can remember the same feeling with the girls. I can remember sitting in the same rocking chair, in the same room with Rayna, nursing her and then snuggling with her until she would fall asleep, and thinking to myself how blessed I was to have her and wanting to hold on to every moment. Now she is 3 1/2 and barely fits on my lap! My point is, I do almost the very same thing with Tobyn, and then it makes me sad how fast it is going! Oh, well! Such is life, and I just need to deal! So, I will keep on cherishing every moment, and at least find contentment in the fact that I know I am cherishing every moment of him!
There is something different about having a boy. The bond is different than with the girls. I know this is terribly silly, but I have often thought how sad it will be when another woman captures his heart over mine and I have to let him go. (I can't say I've ever thought that I would have to let the girls go, although I do know plenty of Dads who have felt that way.) Anyways, enough of the sap! Here is my beautiful 9 month old boy! (Yes, I am a little biased!)

He's starting to be a champ at eating, although he does have areas where he's picky. He doesn't like to be rushed, or to eat on the go! (That's just great for the 3rd kid!)

He still loves nakey time most of all!

He also has just got his first two teeth! However, I have not been able to capture them!

Tobyn at Eight Months!

I'm a little behind with this post, but hey, better late than never! Reality is starting to hit, Tobyn is getting so big! I can't say I'm too excited about him getting big, especially if he is my last baby. I really do wish you could freeze your kids at certain ages and just keep them there for a longer period of time! He is so sweet! This past week he has been a little more demanding. I'm not sure if it's teeth or he's just aware of so much more! He is also becoming interested in really small objects! You know the kind like you just vacuumed the floor and he still manages to find the fuzz that was left behind kind of objects. He is really fascinated with my rings. I don't remember the girls doing that. He still loves to snuggle, but he is starting to push away so that he can see whats going on. He loves his sisters! For some reason, he thinks they are really funny! He is also learning that if he fusses, they will bring him a toy or at the least, try to entertain him. He loves to bang things, squeal and make screaming noises, and jump. He hasn't figured out the crawling thing yet, but he has mastered rolling and is finally sitting fairly well. All in all, he is still a Mama's boy and I'm alright with that!

First time swimming! The jury is out on whether he likes it.
The jury's in! Not so much! (He actually did really well, this was just a moment!)

He loves his sissy time!

He loves his toes!

And being nakey!

Tobyn at 6 Months

Tobyn has hit another milestone, and become another month older! He is a bundle of fun. This past month we have pulled out new toys (and our house is getting crowded with baby toys!) for him to play with, he is using his voice more lately, pushing up on his knees (but he doesn't turn over from his back to his belly yet?), grabbing and playing with his toys (and sisters' hair occasionally!), and we have just started giving him food! So, I've decided I must being doing something wrong, all three of my kids have just not been into food! The first feeding went well, but after that, he was not interested! Oh well, it's a good thing he's a good nurser! On another note, this afternoon Tobyn and I had one of our private conversations. It involved lots of cooing and ahhing, along with some giggling and belly laughs. He grabs at my face and snuggles and rubs my shirt, so I give him kisses on his face and bury my face in his shirt. I know it doesn't sound like much of a conversation, but it was a highlight of my day!

First bite of bananas!

"I'm not sure I liked that!"

"My new chair!"

A new toy! Well, to Tobyn it's new.

My smiley boy!

Tobyn's Five Months!

I'm sure this gets tiresome of me saying this, but I really can't believe how fast this is going. Somebody told me the other day that they thought Tobyn was starting to look like a little boy instead of a baby (I told them that was mean)! That can't be. He has to stay my baby, right? He is so precious. He smiles at almost everyone and his smiles get so big that you think he is going to burst! He is often called the quiet one in our house. I don't know how long that will last, but he is usually always content as long as he has Mom and is being held. Things that Tobyn likes are: his mamma, his sissies, his daddy, and most other people, his changing table, being naked, his thumb, his little blue blankie, and the bath tub. Life is so simple at 5 months (don't you sometimes wish everything stayed that simple)! He's still a little peanut, but I think he has done some serious growing this past week! He has been eating like a monster and I am finally starting to put away those 0-3 months clothes.
